I don’t want to leave the house. I have just been staying inside. I am afraid to go anyplace.

I am 47 female, and have been dealing with depression all of my life.
I am in menopause and can’t sleep. I don’t know if all of this is depression or menopause or both. I have parents who are very old and I have to do everything for them. One reason I don’t want to go out to is because I feel that I look old…..I am taking Cymbalta 60 mg. I have been taking it since Spring. It kind of put me in a trance. I was able to teach about 2 days a week. I just feel hopeless, old and in a bad marriage. I can’t seem to even get enough courage to do anything. I don’t really want a new medication. Most antidepressants cause weight gain. I actually maintained my weight on Cymbalta. I just sleep all day……any suggestions….am I depressed? Is it menopause?

Vertel uw arts u iets anders, en vertel hen dat u wilt pillen die zal leiden tot gewichtstoename te vermijden. Ex: Zoloft veroorzaakt geen gewichtstoename. Ook moeilijk als het is als je depressief bent, doen wat gemakkelijk thuis oefeningen is een natuurlijke manier om zich beter te voelen.
